Subject FRONT-END CLEARING -- LAUNCH DATE -- The Front-End Clearing (FEC) System's Electronic Trade Posting (ETP) Application Will Be Implemented Monday, July 29, 2002.

The Front-End Clearing (FEC) System�s Electronic Trade Posting (ETP) application will be implemented MONDAY, JULY 29, 2002.

As a reminder, the existing GLOBEXInquiry (GB2) screens will be disabled and replaced by this new FEC application.

Firms will realize the following benefits from this new system upon its implementation:

  • Accessibility from any PC that has an Internet connection
  • More GLOBEX trade inquiry capabilities with new filtering criteria
  • Ability to view other exchanges' data, such as NYMEX
  • Broker access for inquiry of GLOBEX net positions and spread prices

The following features will be available within a few weeks after the initial FEC launch:

  • Ability to download GLOBEX trade data into spreadsheets for firm analysis purposes
  • Receive and send TREX "change" messages for GLOBEX trade corrections�firms are encouraged to confirm with their bookkeeping service provider that the systems will be able to process TREX "change" messages on GLOBEX trades.

This FEC application will only be accessible through the CME Portal Internet site. For users who have access to the Portal, please log into the Front-End Clearing link below to test the new system. Users in need of Portal access should contact Client Management at the phone numbers listed below. All Member Firm personnel actively using the GB2 screens must sign up for access to the CME Portal. This is critical because, as noted above, the GLOBEX Inquiry (GB2) screens will be disabled when FEC is implemented.

Log onto the CME Portal at https://portal.cme.com. As outlined in the Portal Guide, complete the procedures for registering your digital certificate.
